RaceQuip Sizing: Suits, Helmets, Shoes, Gloves

Its Important--but Its Not Difficult: We’ll Show You How.

When it comes to racing, safety is the top priority. Properly sized safety gear not only protects you but also keeps you comfortable, allowing you to focus on driving and perform at your best. In this guide, we’ll walk you through how to size yourself for RaceQuip fire suits, helmets, gloves, and shoes. Follow these simple steps to ensure you get the right fit for maximum safety and comfort.

Measuring for Your RaceQuip Suit (Including One-Piece, Jacket, or Pants)

A fire suit is one of the most important pieces of safety gear. RaceQuip fire suits are designed with a generous cut for mobility and layering, but getting the right size is critical for both safety and comfort. Here’s how to measure yourself:

  1. Height: Measure from the floor to the top of your head while wearing the footwear you plan to race in.
  2. Weight: Record your weight using a reliable scale.
  3. Natural Waist: Wrap the tape around your midsection near your belly button, keeping it level with the ground.
  4. Inseam: Measure from the crotch to the center of your ankle bone along the inside of your leg.
  5. Chest Circumference: Measure around the widest part of your chest, just under your armpits.
  6. Shoulder Width: Measure from the outside edge of one shoulder bone to the outside edge of the other.
  7. Sleeve Length: Measure from the center of your neck to your shoulder, then to your elbow, and finally to your wrist bone.

For more insight on how this is done, watch this great video provided by RaceQuip:

Once you have your measurements, consult RaceQuip’s sizing chart to find the best fit. If you’re between sizes, choose the smaller size due to the roomy fit of RaceQuip suits.

Measuring for Your RaceQuip Helmet

A properly fitted helmet is essential for head protection. To measure to find the right size, use a flexible measuring tape to measure around your head, just above your eyebrows and ears.  Use size in CM for best accuracy and go with the largest measurement you get. Hat sizes are only a guideline and not the most accurate. Inches are rounded to nearest 1/16. If you are between sizes you must go with the larger size. Add 1 to 1.5cm for a head sock.

Note that the Youth-sized SFI Helmets have a smaller, lighter shell and are designed for lower speed youth racing. A snug fit is optimum.

When fitting a helmet, be sure to tighten chin strap before evaluating fit.

Measuring for Your RaceQuip Gloves

To find glove size, make a fist measure over knuckles, excluding thumb, around largest part of hand.  Note the separate sizing for Kids and Adult in the table below and chose the appropriate size from the gloves specific to youth or adults.

Measuring for Your RaceQuip Shoes

Ok, so this is more basic.  Select the size that you usually select when purchasing other footwear.  RaceQuip shoes use standard US Mens shoe sizes for all of their shoes except toddler.  For Toddler's, Racequip uses standard Toddler sizing: T6, T8, T10, T12, etc.
