Recaro Racing Seat Materials Overview

Curious about what materials Recaro offers for their seats? In this article we provide an overview of the most commonly available Recaro Seat materials.

Nardo

Available in Grey or Black, Nardo is a highly durable synthetic material.  It is used on Recaro Bolsters specifically to enhance longevity where the body slides into position.

Artista

Similar to Recaro's Nardo material, Artista uses a multi-textured weave to provide a visually pleasing and deep look to the seat's center insert.  Also available in Grey or Black.

Recaro Leather

Nothing beats leather for luxury car seats.  Nothing else offers quite the same durability, resistance to cold/heat, look, or smell of leather.  Recaro offers this naturally-textured leather in Grey, Beige, and Black.

Nappa Leather

When only the best will do, consider Recaro seats that offer Nappa leather.  This exceptionally smooth leather offers a softness of touch that is captivating.  Only the very best leather is chosen for this tanning process, and it is available only in Black.

Recaro Vinyl

Yes vinyl, but not just any vinyl.  Recaro vinyl is an exceptionally high quality vinyl designed for long life, easy care, and it meets FMVSS 302 standard for resistance to flammability.  Available in Black.

Rhino Vinyl (Camira)

This is the material of choice for Recaro seats for applications that will see weather or abrasion.  FMVSS 302 certified for resistance to flammability.  Available in Grey.

Alcantera

This material has the luxurious look and feel of genuine suede without the weight or cost, while adding significant resistance to staining compared to the natural material.  Available in Red, Grey, Blue, and Yellow.

Carbon Weave

Recaro uses a combination of black, grey, and silver threads to create a carbon-fiber look material that is as plush and comfortable as any of their other seat materials.

Pepita

Recaro offers the iconic Pepita fabric pattern on several seats as well as other accessories.  Sometimes inaccurately referred to as "Houndstooth", this unique pattern hearkens back to the legendary Porsche 901/911 of the mid 1960's.

Other Materials

Recaro's Dinamica material is a synthetic suede material similar to theri Alcantera.  It is slightly heavier and, as such, a bit more durable than Alcantera.  While Alcantera is a bit more visually similar to genuine suede, Dinamica provides a similar look and feel with increased durability at a slightly lower price point.

Recaro continues to use velour material as an option on many of their racing seats.  Perhaps not as durable or weather proof as some of the other choices, it is extremely lightweight, breathable, and tends to grip the driver better than vinyl, leather, or cloth.
